Ingils Falls, Owen Sound

Rob @ Inglis Falls

I was out with a couple of friends from work the other day to take some photos of the frozen Inglis Falls located just out side of Owen Sound, Ontario.  We arrived just before dusk and it made life easy to get some really great flowing water photos of the fall.  The only downfall was the gloomy clouds overhead.

The picture to the left is of me as I was venturing out onto the side of a cliff as seen in the picture below.  Josh happened to snap the photo just as I took a step and was a bit nervous of falling through the cracks.  The cliff was snow covered and a bit frightening to walk on.  I'm sure my wife would have killed me for doing that if she was there.

The first picture below took a bit of effort to get.  I had to climb down the icy, snow covered rocks to the west of the falls.  Once I was down the ledge, I was in waste deep snow and had to walk over and under all sorts of branches and rocks.  I set up my tripod on a boulder just on the shore of the creek at the bottom of the falls.  Unfortunately, I was a bit too cold and snow covered to consider putting on my zoom lens.  So my shots were all wide angle from below.

The second photo is shot straight on from the west side of the falls on the ledge.  The last photo is from the bridge at the top of the falls.  I've taken all the photos either at f/22 or f/32 in order to get a long exposure time. My ISO was set around 200 and I was shooting on aperture priority.
